Slovenia is heavily investing in the modernization of its rail infrastructure, with substantial funds allocated to various projects.

The Ministry of Infrastructure plans to invest 373 million euros in public railroad infrastructure this year, a significant increase from the 14 million euros invested last year.

The construction of the second track between Koper and Divača, the country's most significant infrastructure initiative, has commenced after decades of preparation. By the end of last year, construction companies completed all viaducts, enabling the utilization of EU funds. To expedite progress, the government is prioritizing applications from Turkish workers for the project.

Additionally, construction of a new passenger center in Ljubljana began this year, while plans for the renovation of the Ljubljana railroad junction are pending. Several other railway stations across Slovenia are undergoing renovations, with substantial investments: Nova Gorica station renovation is estimated at 62 million euros, Jesenice station at 139 million euros, and Krško station at 47 million euros.

The modernization of the Maribor-Sentilj line, with an investment of 287 million euros, will be completed this year. Meanwhile, the modernization of the Primorska line from Ljubljana to Divača continues, with completion scheduled for 2027, requiring an additional 673 million euros.
